Our Journey
Our story began in Ellesmere Port in 2017, sparked by a simple realisation: it’s easier to create new products from raw materials than to recycle existing ones. Determined to change this narrative, we set out on a mission to rewrite the story of waste.
As we delved into the waste tyre ecosystem, we uncovered a broken system. Recycling wasn’t just inefficient—it was fundamentally flawed. But in these challenges, we saw opportunities. By collecting tyres, advancing pyrolysis technology, and navigating the complexities of the value chain, we discovered synergies that could transform inefficiencies into solutions.
Through countless late nights, long days, and persistent efforts, we built more than just a company. We created a platform that addresses not only the challenges we faced, but also the pain points of stakeholders throughout the ecosystem.
Today, Big Atom is more than a solution—it’s a bridge to the future we envision: a world where recovering resources from waste is more efficient than extracting them from the earth. A world where resources never go to waste.
